Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 3 August 2026

These terms explain what you can expect from Safeinest and what we expect from you, in plain English. Safeinest is a family-safety tool that helps a parent or guardian set gentle limits on a child's iPhone, and keeps the two of you able to reach each other. It is currently in beta (a test release), so features may change and things may not always work perfectly. Please read these terms alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

Safeinest is a family-safety and parental-controls service provided by JETMEAWAY LTD, a company registered in England and Wales. You can ask us for our company number and registered office address at any time and we will give them to you.

In these terms, "we", "us" and "our" mean JETMEAWAY LTD. "You" means the adult account holder who agrees to these terms. "The service" means the Safeinest website, the Safeinest Parent app, the Safeinest Kids app, and any related features we provide.

You can contact us by email at hello@safeinest.com. We are a small UK team, so please allow a few working days for a reply. If we need to contact you, we will use the email address or contact details linked to your account.

Please keep a copy of these terms for your records. We recommend reading them together with our Privacy Policy, which forms part of your agreement with us.

2. Acceptance of these terms

By creating a Safeinest account, pairing a child's device, or otherwise using the service, you confirm that you have read, understood and agreed to these terms.

If you do not agree with these terms, please do not use the service.

We may ask you to accept an updated version of these terms from time to time (see "Changes to the service and these terms" below). If you continue to use the service after an update takes effect, you are agreeing to the updated terms.

These terms, together with our Privacy Policy and any rules shown inside the apps or on the App Store, make up the whole agreement between you and us for the service.

3. What Safeinest does and its beta status

Safeinest helps a parent or guardian set simple limits on a child's iPhone. From the Parent app you can, for example: allow or block broad app categories (such as social, games, video, entertainment, web and messaging); set a bedtime window and school hours when apps should rest (applied by the child's phone at its next check-in — see section 7); set timed blocks and focus sessions; apply a "block now"; approve extra time when your child asks for it; message and voice-call your child; switch on live location and draw safe zones; and record an intent to "lock app removal".

Safeinest also tells you about things that affect whether the limits are working: a phone that disconnects, Screen Time being switched off, fewer apps being covered than before, more apps being set to always-allowed, a request to remove the app, and a phone that has not been heard from for two days.

Enforcement on iPhone uses Apple's Screen Time (Family Controls) feature. This means Safeinest asks iOS to apply the limits you choose. It does not replace Apple's own parental controls and it depends on them working on the child's device.

Safeinest is currently in beta. A beta is a test version. Features may be added, changed, paused or removed; settings may not always apply instantly; and you may encounter bugs or interruptions. We do not promise that any specific feature will always be available or work without fault during the beta.

Android support and message-monitoring features described in our marketing (if any) are future plans and are not part of the current iPhone service unless we say so clearly inside the app.

Safeinest is a supportive tool to help families set healthy boundaries. It is not a security product, a surveillance system, or a substitute for parental supervision and conversation.

4. Who can use Safeinest (eligibility)

You must be at least 18 years old and legally an adult to hold a Safeinest account.

You must be the parent or legal guardian of the child whose device you set up, or otherwise have proper legal authority and responsibility for that child and their device.

You confirm that you have the right to install software on, and to set controls on, the child's device — for example because you own or control that device, or because the person who does has given you permission.

You are responsible for making sure that your use of Safeinest is lawful in your household and appropriate for your family's circumstances. If more than one adult shares parental responsibility, you should make sure you are entitled to set these controls.

We may refuse, suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe these eligibility conditions are not met.

5. Acceptable use

You agree to use Safeinest only for its intended purpose: a parent or guardian setting reasonable, proportionate limits on a child's own device for the child's safety and wellbeing.

You must not use Safeinest to monitor, track or control any adult, or any person over whom you do not have parental responsibility or lawful authority.

You must not use the service to harass, abuse, stalk, coerce or harm anyone, or in any way that breaks the law.

You must not attempt to break, reverse-engineer, tamper with, overload or gain unauthorised access to the service, our systems, or other users' accounts, except where you have a right to do so that cannot be excluded by law.

You must not misuse safety information shown in the app, share another person's private data unlawfully, or use the service to collect data you are not entitled to collect.

If you let a child or anyone else use the Parent app or your account, you remain responsible for what happens under your account.

6. Your responsibilities as the parent or guardian

Lawful and fair use: You are responsible for using Safeinest lawfully and fairly, and for making your own judgement about what limits are appropriate for your child's age and needs.

Telling the child appropriately: We strongly encourage open, age-appropriate conversations with your child about the limits you set and why. Being honest with your child supports trust and helps meet good-practice expectations for children's online safety. You are responsible for how you communicate with your child about the controls.

Device ownership and set-up: You are responsible for the child's device, for setting it up correctly, and for keeping iOS and the apps up to date. Some limits only "stick" if you also configure Apple Screen Time settings and set a Screen Time passcode (see the next section).

Supervision: Safeinest supports your parenting; it does not replace it. You remain responsible for supervising your child's device use and for responding to any safety concerns.

Accuracy: You are responsible for the information you enter, including the child's age and alias, and for keeping your account details up to date.

7. Important limits of iPhone enforcement (please read carefully)

We want to be completely honest about what Safeinest can and cannot do on an iPhone. These limits come from how Apple's iOS works, not from a lack of effort on our part.

Enforcement is cooperative, not absolute: Safeinest relies on Apple Screen Time (Family Controls). Screen Time access can be switched off in the child's iPhone Settings. If it is turned off, or if permissions are removed, Safeinest cannot apply or fully report on the limits you set. The controls work best when the child's phone is part of your Apple Family and protected by a Screen Time passcode that only you know.

We cannot read messages: No third-party app can read a child's messages on iPhone (for example iMessage, WhatsApp or similar). Apple does not allow it. Safeinest does not and cannot read the content of your child's messages on iPhone. Any message-monitoring feature is an Android-only future possibility, not part of the iPhone service.

We cannot force-prevent app deletion: No app can stop itself from being deleted on an iPhone. When you choose "lock app removal", Safeinest records your intention and shows the child a gentle "please ask first" message — it cannot physically prevent deletion. To genuinely prevent apps being deleted, you (the parent) need to set it in the child's iPhone: Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → "Deleting Apps: Don't Allow", protected by a Screen Time passcode (ideally with the child's phone in your Apple Family).

Safeinest does not run a background timer yet: iPhone offers a way to run a schedule (a DeviceActivity extension) and we have not built one, so this is our gap rather than Apple’s. "Block now", focus sessions and approved extra time are pushed to the child's phone and normally apply within seconds, even with the Kids app closed — but Apple does not guarantee delivery of that message, and never delivers it to a phone that is off, offline, or where the app was force-quit. Time-based rules — a bedtime window, school hours and timed blocks — are checked by the child's phone itself, so they begin and end when that phone next checks in rather than at the exact minute. If the Safeinest Kids app has not been opened, a bedtime may not begin until it is, and a block may run past its end time.

We cannot show app usage: Apple keeps figures for how long each app was used on the child's own device and gives no third-party app a way to read them. Safeinest never sees which apps your child uses or for how long.

Some choices are made on the child's phone: which apps are "covered", which apps count as each category, and which apps are "always allowed" are all chosen in Apple's own picker on the child's device. A child can change them, and no app can lock them. Safeinest's answer is to notice and tell you, not to prevent it.

Timing and reliability: Because enforcement depends on Apple's systems and the child's device, changes may not apply instantly, and reporting may be delayed or incomplete. During beta this is more likely.

You accept that these are genuine limits of the platform, and that Safeinest is a helpful layer on top of Apple's controls rather than a guaranteed lock. If certainty is important to you, please also set the relevant Apple Screen Time restrictions yourself.

8. Accounts and security

To use Safeinest you create an account and pair the child's device (by scanning a QR code or entering a pairing code). You are responsible for keeping your account details and pairing codes confidential.

Choose a strong, unique password and do not share it. Tell us promptly at hello@safeinest.com if you think someone else has accessed your account without permission.

You are responsible for activity that happens under your account, unless it results from our failure to keep the service reasonably secure.

We may suspend or restrict access to your account if we reasonably believe it is being used in breach of these terms, is compromised, or needs to be protected for security reasons. Where practical and lawful, we will let you know.

Practise good data minimisation on your side too: only enter the information the app asks for (for example, the child's age rather than a full date of birth, and an alias rather than the child's legal name).

9. Intellectual property

We (or our licensors) own all intellectual property rights in the Safeinest service, including the apps, website, software, designs, text, graphics, logos and the Safeinest name and brand. These rights are protected by law.

We give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable and revocable licence to use the service for your own family's non-commercial use, in line with these terms. This licence lasts only as long as you comply with these terms.

You must not copy, modify, distribute, sell, license, reverse-engineer or create derivative works from the service, except where the law gives you a right that cannot be excluded.

The Apple App Store has its own terms that also apply to your download and use of the apps. If there is a conflict between those store terms and these terms about the app download itself, the store terms apply to that point.

Any feedback or suggestions you send us are welcome, and you agree we may use them to improve the service without owing you anything for them.

10. Disclaimers — the service is provided "as is"

Safeinest is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, particularly during beta. To the extent the law allows, we do not make promises or guarantees that are not expressly written in these terms.

We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or always available, or that it will detect, prevent or block any particular content, app or behaviour.

We do not guarantee any specific safety outcome. Safeinest is a supportive tool, not a guarantee of your child's safety online or offline. It cannot replace parental supervision, honest conversation, or professional help where that is needed.

Because enforcement is cooperative and depends on Apple's systems and the child's device (see "Important limits of iPhone enforcement"), we cannot promise that limits will always apply, that reporting will be complete, or that a child cannot bypass a control.

Nothing in this section removes or limits any rights you have as a consumer under UK law that cannot be excluded, or our duty to provide a service with reasonable care and skill.

11. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded under UK law (including certain rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015).

Subject to that, we are not liable for: loss or harm that was not reasonably foreseeable; loss arising from a child bypassing, disabling or working around the controls; loss caused by Apple's systems, the device, your network, or third-party apps; or loss caused by you not setting up Apple Screen Time restrictions as described in these terms.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, revenue, data, or anticipated savings, to the extent the law allows us to exclude them.

If we are found liable to you despite the above, our total liability to you for all claims connected with the service in any 12-month period is limited to the greater of: (a) the total fees you paid us for the service in that period; or (b) £100.

This section should be read together with the disclaimers above. Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected.

12. Changes to the service and to these terms

Because Safeinest is in active development and in beta, we may change, add, pause or remove features, and we may update the service to fix problems, improve safety, or reflect changes in Apple's platform.

We may update these terms from time to time — for example to reflect new features, legal requirements, or how the service works. The version shown here with its "last updated" date is the current one.

If we make a significant change to these terms, we will take reasonable steps to let you know, for example by a notice in the app or by email, before the change takes effect.

If you do not agree to an update, you can stop using the service and close your account. Continuing to use the service after an update takes effect means you accept the updated terms.

We will keep our honest description of the iPhone limits accurate. We will not quietly change these terms to over-claim what the service can do.

13. Ending your use (termination)

You can stop using Safeinest at any time. In the Parent app, open the Devices tab and remove each child — that unlinks their phone and deletes their rules, messages and stored location. To close your account entirely, email hello@safeinest.com and we will delete it and everything attached to it. Data is handled on closure as set out in our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or end your access to the service if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if we reasonably believe your use is unlawful or harmful, if required by law, or if we stop offering the service.

Where it is reasonable and lawful to do so, we will give you notice before ending your access, and we will explain why.

If the service or your account ends, the licence we gave you stops, and you must stop using the apps. Sections that by their nature should continue — such as intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability and governing law — will still apply.

On closure, we will handle any personal data in line with our Privacy Policy and our data-minimisation approach.

14. General terms and governing law

Governing law: These terms and any dispute or claim connected with them (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Jurisdiction: The courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction, except that if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your own home courts, as consumer law allows.

If any part of these terms is found to be invalid or unenforceable, the rest of the terms will continue to apply.

If we do not enforce a right straight away, that does not mean we give it up. We can still enforce it later.

You may not transfer your rights or obligations under these terms to someone else without our written agreement. We may transfer ours if the service is taken over by another business, as long as your rights are not reduced.

No one other than you and us has any right to enforce these terms under the Contracts (Rights of Third Parties) Act 1999.

Complaints and disputes: If you are unhappy with the service, please contact us first at hello@safeinest.com so we can try to put things right. We aim to acknowledge a complaint within five working days and to resolve it within 30 days. If we cannot resolve it between us, you keep every right you have under UK consumer law, including the right to take the matter to the courts named above.
